LOTD: CUPCAKE TOPPING

This is a look my class mate actually did couple of times to me during our makeup period.
It was honestly the only makeup I kept the whole day after the class and the only makeup I have recreated since it to myself allready couple of times.
Only thing is that I added some of my own things to it (The winged liner and white waterline). The "Original one had only a really thin blavk liner (not winged), and the pink was matte color.

I think this really emphesizes blue eyes! :)
This also compliments my red hair (which hasn't changed after I colored it red haha :D I will stick into it!)

Remember to "LOVE" this at Makeup Geek Idea Gallery! (CLICK THIS)

Here's how you can achieve this look (the eyes)!

1. Apply a base (Mine was just a white kohl pencil)

2. Pat a dark grey eyeshadow to the outer corners and blend carefully towards the inner corner (Don't bring the dark too close to your inner corner or it will close up your eyes) [Small blending brush]

3. Pat the matte pink eyeshadow to the lid [Flat stiff brush

4. Add some light to the eyes by feathering the white eyeshadow from the inner corner towards the pink (little bit over it also) [Flat brush, soft rounded brush]

5. Feather some of the grey color on top of the pink, towards the center of the lid. [small flat brush]

6. Take a synthetic brush, wet it little bit and add a shimmery pink eyeshadow on top of the matte eyeshadow (By wetting the brush, you get the metallic effect. You can also use some kind of mixing medium like Inglots' Duraline) [Sythetic flat brush]

7. Do a lower lashline shadow with grey and black [Little pencil brush] (If your eye are small, skip this step or line only half away like I have done.)

8. Line the upper lashline with your favourite liner.

9. Add mascara

DONE! :)

Products I used:

Competition Results

Hey everyone!

As u all might allready know, I took a part in a makeup art competition in (it was a "Finlands best 2013" competition) in I Love Me- messut (I Love Me-event).

I was so busy with the makeup competitio that I couldn't consentrare to the event itself, but I will write about it more in another time (they are annual makeup, healt and fashion event).

***

To the makeup competition!

I was in student class in this. Above u can see the certification everyone who participated got no matter what their points were. It has my name on it, what competition it was. :)

Let me tell u, there were so many students from a proper makeup school! As u know I'm in cosmetology school, not in makeup school yet, so u can guess they had more experience doigs special effects and everything cool!

The theme was circus, my character was a tightrope walker. (I can't put photos of my model here yet, cause I don't know if she likes her photos to be shown)

The competition itself was really amazing experience for me, I really liked it even if I normally don't like to being watched by lot of people (everyone who visited the event could watch the competition). ^_^

There was 19 participant. Unfortunately I didn't place among the 3 best (this time!!!).
But.... I was SIXTH!! I got 83 points! (The first got 103 points). I lost to the fift student only by 1 lousy point :D

WOHOOO!! I'm so happy even if I didn't win!
***

As a next journey I do makeups to fashion show in our school :)

And MARCH 2014 I go to my next competition :) HAIR AND BEAUTY event.

***

Now have a good week and see u soon, now that my makeup course is over, i can continue doing makeup posts :)

Rant: Stop the time

Aaaaaargh, again so much time has gone by since I last time wrote. I have been so busy with school and makeup competition practises (and clients also). I'm overwhelmed how much work I have and how fast the time goes by - just stop the time for a while and let me breathe! >.<

Everyday after school I feel soooooo drained I could just fall to the bed and fell asleep in a second - specially after hairdo classes... 'Cause I suck at hair things. Here's a proof:

Yeah... I just don't have that "dimension" thinking skill (don't dare to say I'm wrong) .
***
I have hard time doing any makeup posts at the time 'cause all of my brushes are in school or wet because I have used them in school and then have washed them. :( So u just have to bare my rants at the time.

To the end, some pics:

Matchy hair and makeup color ;)

Ummm, yeah I turned into red head again xD brunette or dip dye wasn't my thing.

Fall is coming, enjoying last warm weathers :)

Color Challenge: Purple and Yellow

Morning!! (I'm mentally still asleep).

Yesterday at makeup class one of my classmates said I shpuld do a purple + yellow makeup for her sometime.
... I got scared xD
'Cause I find that usually yellow looks really good only on darker skin tones.

And purple.... well, we don't want a bruised eye effect :D

But I took a challenge and as I got a day off today from school I tought I would try out a purple + yellow eye makeup.

Here's only one look for now. My eyes are so dry from washing the makeup away all the time in school + in home so they tear really easily. Can't create many looks on same day at the time, sorry :(

To achieve this look I used:

Face:
* Elite Fluide Perfection Foundation in "Opale" (Little too yellow for me)
* Meow Cosmetics mineral foundation in "Chausie (0-inquisitive)"
* Makeup For Ever Taupe eyeshadow for contour
* Makeup Geek Eyeshadow "Cupcake" as Blush (faded away in photo)

Eyes:
* Inglot base
* NYX Jumbo pencil "Milk"
* Makeup Geek e/s "Yellow Brick Road" (lid)
* Makeup Geek e/s "Goddes" (crease)
* BH Cosmetics 120 palette 2nd edition, 3 shades of purple (Lower lid)
* Inglot grey e/s (outer corner of the lower lid)
* Makeup Geek e/s "Gold Digger" (Highlight on the browbone and tear duct)
* Makeup Geek gel liner "Immortal" (Winged liner and upper waterline)
* Nyx Jumbo Pencil "Milk" (Lower waterline)

School makeuping: everyday makeup

Hiii,

We have a makup and hair do period in school at the time.
I so have waited this! :P
Even the hair! ... At least for far as we started... I realized I hate doing hair for someone else. xD

Today we did a everyday makeup.
 I felt little restricted, cause the teachers have their own style so they teach it to us...
But I will and can do my own thing - they know I have experierence about doing makeup so they don't mind if I do something differently than others (also 'cause I will be going to competition). (Kauneus ja teveysmessut ;))

Besides, isn't makeup a form of art? U really can find your own style of doing it - would be dull to have strict rules :(.

The teacher showed the eye makeup to my model (to the other side).
My classmate then said to me: 'now u have a pressure to make the pther match the teachers!'
... Yup, I did felt little pressure after that :D
But I think I did well.

Here's my lovely model and classmate. Sorry the bad quality of the photo, phone camera boohoo :(
From this point of view, I did the left eye, teacher the right one (also made little touch ups for hers so that it matches to my style).

I went for neutral colors, cause she had to go to work after school.

Color range in this look:

*Dark grey
* Black
* Shimmery white (tear duct higlight)
* Medium brown
* Eggshell white

The whole makeup (face, brows, eyes) have been done with Ben Nye cosmetics.

Tommorrow I will try some pinks maybe, we'll see ;)

Thank you for reading!

Rant: Work vs. Freetime

I'm quite lazy... But that's only 'cause I'm also kind of a work-a-holic. And by work-a-holic I mean I get frustrated if I don't have anything to do at work time and I just have to sit there doing nothing. Get's me rally anxious.
I get the feeling I'm useless, if I don't do something all the time.

I'm not so crazy that I would think of work on my freetime also.... Oh wait a minute, I take that back, I do think of work things on my freetime.
BUT I would rather not think them!
It's just that as I'm on beauty industry, people come to ask beauty related things from me also on my freetime.

So as I have freetime I do use it by relaxing, loafing on the sofa, eating bad foods (REMEMBER YOUR VEGIES KIDS!! :D), watching movies under bfs' arm.
That makes me 'lazy'.
Lazy 'cause I'm really not lazy... if that made any sense in the world (quess not :D).

***

At the time I'm a _Lash Technician_ (Yes I have a sertificate, I'm not selftaught).

In the picture above, is one of my lovely clients. :) She has allready naturally long lashes, so we could add a lenght quite a bit.
On the picture she has lashes that are C-curl (so they are quite curvy ooh lalala ;)) in 9, 11, and 13mm lenghts.
Later we add also some 15mm lashes to the outer corners, but I don't have picture from them.

As I'm poor student, boohoo, I work at home (and in some cases I go to clients home).
My bf once said that it would be fun if he had a room where he could work, fix things (he's into cars and in my opinion it seems like he generally likes fixing things) and have basically  'garage' as his room - so that after he's ready to go to sleep he could only fall to the bed, not leaving the room.
It sounds great I admit, and fun. :D But I said that I wouldn't mix work and freetime.
At first it's fun.
But then all the work things starts to stress you right in the place where you shouldn't think of working your ass off.
I noticed and proofed this just recently as I had done yet another lashes to client and tried to go to sleep in the night.
I just couldn't.
All that I could see as I closed my eyes was doing lash extensions.
And as much as I love doing them, I hate that I can't sleep because of them! :(
I really like my sleep, I want to sleep!! Please?

Anyone that relates???

In a nutshell: I DON'T RECOMMEND LETTING WORK TO COME TO YOUR FREETIME. (Or it will soon come to your drems also... SOOOON xD)

For this same reason I'm afraid that makeup becomes something I don't want to do as a hobby 'cause I start to do it also in school this fall... I don't want it to feel like a job. :(
Meh, that's not going to happen! :D *Confident*

To the end another lash extension pic. :)
B- curls in 9 and 11mm lenght + C-curl in 7mm

Hair day

Hello everyone :)

*sigh* I may have a really bad habit... As I'm upset or feeling down, I kind of tend to either color my hair or cut it. (Or I just get bored to the old color really quickly... Or both :D)
And I know! It's not so healthy to color your hair radically many times in a row... So don't do it! :D
At least I haven't bleach my hair entirely, I did it only once and it was in a salon and as I wanted to get rid of my black color.

Well, I have been red head just recently, but now I wanted to get rid of the red color. I didn't want to do a bleaching. And if u didn't know, red is a difficult hair color: it doesn't stay vibrant long, but it's a pain in the bottom to try color it away. :D
My only choice since I didn't want a bleaching was to color my hair with a cool brown color (to get the warmness of the red away) - I did this last time.

Now I colored with golden brown (seems darker than it should be, cause the red is still affecting on the bottom). And the added little obre effect, but just to my lower layers. I'm quite pleased, even if the bleached part is little carrot! :D :)

I sat under the bus shelter for almost on hour 'cause I was feeling down.
The graffitti looks quite cool beside my blue sweater and pink earplugs, don't u think!? :D

U may laugh at me, but I' actually planning on trying to do sone POKEMON  inspired makeup looks in near future. :P haha.

See u <3

EOTD: MAGPIE

Sugarpills' pigment "Magpie"... Gorgeous deep, dark blue, glittery color I never manage to photograph properly. *sigh*
Flash, no Flash, natural light, no natural light, I have tried them all.
But I am determinded to keep trying.
Anyway here's a look featuring the "Magpie" pigment from Sugarpill. I have used it so little 'cause I feel I suck with blues and greens :( (Not to mention with glittery pigments which I tend to drop all over my face xD)

Products used in this look:

* Lime Crime eyeshadow base (sample)
* Nyx Jumbo Pencil "Milk"
* Makeup Geek e/s: "Corrupt" (Black), "Poolside" (Bright Blue with hint of gold)
* Sugarpill Loose Shadow "Magpie"
* BH Cosmetics 120 palette 2nd edition (2 shades of blue)
* Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed e/s "Tako" (White)
* Inglot Liquid Liner #25 (Black)
* Makeup Geek Gel Liner "Immortal" (Black)
* Maybeline Colossal Waterproof Mascara

The numbers indicate the place of the each color, not the order.

1. Apply your eyeshadow base. Or if you don't have any primer, use a thin coat of concealer.

2. Apply a white base (mainly to the center and inner corner of your lid). Mine was Nyx Jumbo Pencil "Milk", but you can also use white gel liner or white kohl pencil if you prefer.

3. Draw a cat eye shape with a black shadow and pencil brush towards your eyebrow. (You can use pieces of tape as your quideline to do this.)

4. Feather the blach shadow towards the middle section of your eye.

5. Take your dark blue pigment and pat that gently to the center of your lid (I applied it wet).

6. Take a mixture of light blue and mid blue shadow to your blending brush and add them to the crease to blend the black and dark blue together.

7. Feather the pure white shadow to the inner corners and slightly on top of the dark blue shadow. Also add the white to your browbone as a higlight color.

8. Add bright blue shadow to the lower lashline.

9. Darken the outer corner of your lower lashline with black (or if you prefer, with dark matte blue)

10. Line the waterline with black.

11. Make a winged liner with your liner (Liquid, pencil, shadow, gel which ever you prefer.)

12. Add generous amount of mascara.

YOU'RE DONE! :)

Come Back

Hi,

I don't even know where to start honestly. It has been almost a year as I last time wrote to this blog, so I kind of feel weird to come back after so long time, mainly 'cause I know I had readers and I feel like I 'abandoned' all of you when I just stopped writing all of a sudden (literally).  And for that I'm so sorry.
Honestly, my life was kind of a mess at the time I strated this blog, so I don't even understand how I imagined I could commit into writing. I shouldn't have even started since I knew I may not be able to continue.

Now that almost a year has gone by, I'm feeling good and happy. I feel like myself again. There has been a little thought of coming back to write this blog for a some time now, so... Here I am now. If you still 'take me back'. :)

***

What have happened in a year:

* I'm now 21 years old
* Year away from graduating to be a estetician
* I have lost weight 12-14 kg
* I'm sertificated lash extension technician (phew that was long word)
Yup, I was red head :D (Had also flaming red hair at the end of the winter)

And I still do makeup looks! Just haven't done them as active as I used to when I still wrote here. :)
I quess that, if I'm writing again here, that means I start to do makeup more often again! :D

Here's one of the looks I have done recently :)

Autumn; The Second Spring

~Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.~

I love Autumn! I was born in spring, but in a way I feel like I'm Autumn child.
I actually don't even know excatly why I like autumn so much... huh, weird - I just enjoy it (even if I get 'depressed' 'cause it gets so dark in the fall -.-) . :D

Sometimes when I see a big pile of fallen, colorful leaves I got this sudden urge to jup to the pile like a little child... But I won't... 'cause people would think I'm totally crazy. hmph! ;(
*sigh* No leaf piles for me.

Instead I suffocated my childish urges by doing a fallen leaves inspired MU-look :)
Hope you like it, I worked really hard for this!

And don't forget to vote the look here: http://www.makeupgeek.com/idea-gallery/look/autumn-spirit/

Skin Types

Hiiiii :))

As I told in a previous post, I'm going to write about skin types, since I was so long clueless about my own skin type. 'Cause I didn't know the 'needs' of my skin, I most likely treted it in a wrong way. There must be other people also who are struggling with this same DILEMMA, so hopefully this post helps to determine your skin type and the right ways to take care of it. :)

For now I'm only listing the skin types and I talk about the right care in the next post. :)

~~~
There are 4 different skin types:
Normal
Dry skin
Oily skin
Combination skin
Well.... First of all, in my opinion every skin type is NORMAL. There aren't right and wrong - its not abnormal to have oily skin or dry skin! :DD You know what I'm trying to say?
Secondly: Every one of these skin types can also be SENSITIVE, but there aren't a skin type that's only sensitive.
~~~

How to determine your skin type:

* Look - take a mirror and look what your skin looks like
*Feel - touch your face. But with CLEAN hands! :D

^ These are the things we cosmeticians do also when we determine the skin type of the client. We look the skin, touch the skin. (also we ask questions but only so that we know what the client thinks about her/his skin.)

~~~
Now that we are looking our beautiful face from the mirror, we have to know what we are looking for. :P
Normal skin:
* It is Not oily nor dry
* Pores are normal size (those are the small 'holes' you can see <--- with normal skin you most likely don't see them easily)
* The skin is soft and smooth
* Hydration is normal (pull your eyelid gently and if it bounces back immediately, you have good hydration.)
* Color: Good, 'rosy' (not pale or ashy)
* Blood circulation good (you blush easily)
NOTE: There can be some blemishes or blackheads even if the skin is normal.
Dry skin:
*Feels dry and bristly
* Pores are almost too tiny to see
* The skin can feel thin (mostly older).
* Can feel like it's cracking.
* Is smooth (with younger)
* No blemishes or blackheads
* Hydration is poor
* Color: Good or some cases pale
* Blood circulation can be poor (with older)
* Can be sensitive or irritates easily
Oily skin:
* Feels oily
* Looks oily (shines)
* Thick skin structure
* Pores are big
* Hydration can be either normal, poor or increased
*Color: yellow-ish, grey-ish. No transparent effect
* Blood circulation: Normal
* Blemishes, blackheads
Now, I have to say this. If you have oily skin, don't worry or be sad! Usually those who have oily skin as a teen, have lot better skin as a adult than same aged person! :D
It may sound unfair, but that's just how it is! :D
Combination skin:
This skin type is really common and hard to explain with just these '*'-marks.
* Can be a mixture of different skin type: eg. oily skin + normal skin: Dry skin + oily skin.
* Common combination: Oily t-zone + normal cheeks
With this skin type you have to just se if there are something from the dry skin and something from some other skin type. I know that some say that combination skin is oily t-zone and normal cheeks, but that's not the only one and right combination!
Eg. If you have oily cheeks, but dry forehead and nose - you still are a Combo skin! :D
~~~

For myself I'm a combination skin (oily t-zone + normal/dry cheeks):

*Big/Normal pore in the forehead, nose, chin
* Tiny pore in the cheek area
* Blackheads on the nose area
* Color: pale
* My t-zone shines during the day (e.g your foundation feels like it doesn't stay on place)
* My cheeks are normal (summer), but in the winter they dry
* Isn't sensitive
* Hydration is good

~~~
Hope this was even little helpfull! I tried to make this as clear as possible.
If you have any conserns, don't be afraid to contact me, I'm more than happy to help! :))
I'll be back soon, have a great day! <3
Mixed Things
Hi evereyone,
I know I have been quite lately, I have so much stuff going on in my life right now. I can tell you something, but there are actually a... well I don't know is it really a 'big' problem - for me at least it is - and aout that I'm not rady to talk now (or even never).
I have a friend who's extremely supporting in this matter, so THANK YOU for being there for me! <3
Also the school has been keeping me away from the computer lately. There aren't much 'homework' since we are already technically working in the school as a cosmetologists (I didn't write that right, did I? haha :D), but I'm almost everyday freakishly tired after school. (Maybe also 'cause the worries, but anyway.)
~~~

Here you can see a 'facial care card'. We have now a facial care in school. This card is something we always fill before doing any facials. For example: we have to determine how big pores the clients has, is there blackheads (comedos) or is the skin sensitive. (there are more than only those.)
All of these questions help us to know if the client has normal skin, oily skin, dry skin or combination skin.
And as you can quess, when we know the skin type, we can choose the best products for it.

Lets say we have a client that has dry skin. We then choose to use products that are meant to add hydration in the skin. :) It would be no use to use oily skin products for dry skin - there are ingredients that dries the skin in the oily skin products. This way the skin would dry out even more! :D

This is why it would be really helpfull for all of us to really recognize what is our skin type. So that we can take care of it right way.
Sooooo, I've decided to help you little bit with that matter. I will do a post soon where I:

* Tell you about different skin types.
* Help you to recognize some typical features of each skin type.
* Tell little bit how to trat each skin type.

Sounds  good? :)) I wanted to do this, 'cause I have had a problematic skin and it was a pain to take care of it 'cause I really didn't know was I a combination skin or a oily skin - so I can emphatize if someone's having frustrations!! x)

~~~
But about that later. Here's a another dark makeup!! :D
I'm so sorry! I don't remember the products I used! xDD I have such a short memory these days!
~~~

Last but not least, I colored and cut my hair last weekend. :)))

Isn't it nice color? :P Me likey! (Even if I'm saying it myself.) I'm going to stay with reddish colors.
For those who didn't knew, I use to have pitch black hair. I was black haired until the spring 2012. ;)

I didn't want to invest money to the hair salon so I did my hair (coloring and cut) by myself. xD
DO NOT ABUSE YOUR HAIR LIKE I DID HAHA! <--- it looked like I was killing my hair. :'DD
But don't worry, I have REEEEEALLY thick hair, so it wasn't a bid deal even if I don't have a hair stylists way of cutting hair.
Oh, and my hair is healthy and shiny so no damages :D They way I cut it, just looked really brutal (from the point of my precious hair.... buhahaha xD)

That's all fror now. This post is a... chaotic mess of everything I have in my head right now - a word vomit!!!! hahaha.

Good day my lovies! :))

.... Need to go sleep... and it's only 4 pm. :DD

Holiday Makeup Trial

Hello beautiful readers!
My new friend and a classmate of mine asked if I could do her new years eve makeup. Well... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! :P
She wants a super, hyper party look with a BLACK/DARK shadow. I haven't done anything super dark for a while, so I decided to practise and this is a TRIAL 1 I came up with the party look in my mind:

STELLAR EYES

* Inglot Eyeprimer
*MAC Blitz & Glitz Gel Liner (base for the black)
* Makeup Geek e/s "Shimma Shimma"
*Makeup Geek e/s "Corrupt"
*Makeup Geek e/s "Last Dance"
*Too Faced Glitter Insurance
*Sugarpill Chromalust Loose Shadow "Stella"
*Sugarpill Chromalust Loose Shadow "Magpie"

****

Personally I felt little bit odd with this dark makeup. My eyes looked so much smaller :DD
That's why I tried to use much light color in the inner corners.

For the end of the text, here's a close-up. :)
Like this 'cause the STELLA loose shadow/Glitter is showing beautifully. <3
(Those of who have used Sugarpill Loose Shadows, know that thy are so gorgeous, but tricky to photograph.)

Hope you liked it! Feel free to leave a comment or write a e-mail, if you have questions! (Or requests or etc. :))

Fusion of Color: Romance

Hello all of you!

How have you been? :)))

I have had the greatest 5 days!!! 5 best school days yet! High school isn't anything compared to this? I LOVE MY SCHOOL, MY CLASS... EVERYTHING! <3 :DD

Honestly, I have such a wonderful classmates - they are as dedicated as I am and I really feel like I'm in home when I'm in school. That's something I never would have thought (I couldn't have quessed I would enjoy being in school).
At fisrt I was terrified as I saw I have 8-9 hour days in school, but now... It feels like I have only few hours. And the end of the day (even if I'm tired and hungry) I'm quite dissapointed that I have to go home. haha xDD

I'm vey sleepy right now, I should go to bed since I have to wake up early tomorrow, but I'm showing a look that I did today with FUSION OF COLOR COSMETICS (Thank you Makeup Junkie Nikki for recommending!)

Products:

* Inglot Eye primer
* NYX Jumbo Pencil (Milk)
* Fusion of Color Cosmetics "Romance" (Lid)
* MUG "Homecoming"
* MUG "Goddes"
* MUG "Corrupt"
* Inglot Liquid Liner #25
*Maybeline Colossal Mascara (waterproof)
* Meow Cosmetics Blush "Cat in Situation"

In the picture above, my hair looks so brunette, but I don't know why 'cause it's really quite light right now. Light and almost coppery brown (but only faded haha :D)

SCHOOOOOL!!!

Tomorrow it finally starts!!!!! The SCHOOL!
I have honestly waited this day so long, over a year and I'm not kidding at all.
If i haven't already told, a year ago I did applied to university, but failed the tests miserably.

In here it requires both good grades in your graduation exams AND high points in the Uni. entrance exams to get in. Also in the university of applied sciences you have to have good grades and on top of that you have to attend a psychological tests (usually meaning that they interview you and tries to determine what are your interests and your motivation for the education you are applying).

Haha, kind of missed the point here now, but just wanted to tell what kind of education system we have. :D

~~~
As I was a year without any education, I started to re-think my choices. What I really want. What I want to do for a living. In what I'm good at.
Those kind of questions.
I actually started to show some interest towards beauty education as someone suddenly told me; "You're good at all the hair and cosmetic stuff, wouldn't it be fun to study that?"
It clicked then at the first time.
"I'm going to apply to cosmetician school!" :D
So I'm not sad at all that I didn't get to the school at the first try. 'Cause if i did, it may be that I would be now studying in the Uni. studying something that really wasn't my calling. It may be that I would have felt really empty then....
AND I wouldn't be here writing this blog either!! :DDD
~~~

So now you know how I ended up to this 'path' where I'm now. (also that I have done makeups only for a year now haha xD)

I have yet a long road ahead, but I'm looking forward this journey. And as we know, the beauty industry is all about learning, there's always some tricks you can learn.
You never stop learning.

~~~
For the end of this blog text, here's a picture of me in my work outfit. :) (I look tired... have had little bit worries. :D)
As I told you before, I won't be able to do looks everyday when school starts, but I will do looks, don't be afraid! I have really long days. (like from 8.15am to 4pm + driving home takes hour because of rush hour).
I already know we will start with the facial skin care. Yay! So exciting. :))))
Talk to you soon! BYE!! <3
